I have a 1980 Piper Seneca II and I'm finding it difficulty to charge my ship battery and stay off my brakes while taxing around.

Basically, if I'm on the ground at night running my standard equipment (recirc fan, avionics, landing lights, nav lights, and panel power) I find I'm pulling about 50-60 amps off of the battery anytime I'm below roughly 950rpms.

During the day I can idle the engines a little lower, around 875-900rpm and still maintain at least a 0 drain on the battery.

I imagine this is the same for everyone else. I have no problems with any load above 1000 rpm, but it's pretty impossible to taxi around without riding the brakes at those speeds. It's vastly different with the engines idling at 700 rpms instead.

Undue concern here?
