I am starting this thread as a spinoff of another in this forum. It seems that many Piper pilots are interested in airplane co-ownership situations (the FAA term for multi-party ownership that is not embodies in a formal corporation). These folks likely include current sole owners looking for a way to reduce costs without having to completely abandon their "baby", and others who are frustrated with the limitations of renting or club membership but can't cope with the high cost of buying and owning their own.
I have been involved in co-ownerships on three different airplanes over the past 43 years, including my current Arrow. These partnerships have involved roughly ten different people over the years, although the current makeup has been stable for almost 20. Obviously, co-ownership works for me, and I suspect that it would enable many more pilots to be owners if only they gave it some consideration. So I am hoping that this thread will be a means of providing visibility to this under-appreciated ownership option as well as a place to have questions about co-ownership asked and answered.
So, if you have any questions about co-ownerships ask away!
