The Goodspeed Airport in East Haddam, CT is planning a “fly-in” for the weekend of August 21 that will welcome visiting pilots and the general public, according to event organizer Luc Zipkin. He said the first annual Goodspeed Fly-In will feature live music, food, camping, a bonfire, and spot landing and flour-bombing competitions. He added that the goal is to attract as many as three dozen visiting airplanes to the event along with local residents. “We’re planning to do this every year if we can, and we don’t want to organize something bigger than we can support,” Zipkin said. “We definitely want the infrastructure to be there for two or three dozen airplanes, and they probably carry an average of three to four people. Then it will be open to the general public as well. ”The airport has a 2,100-foot asphalt runway and a 4,500-foot water run-way for seaplanes. An additional grass runway is being considered for this year, " Zipkin said. Stay tuned for more details.....
