Yoke U-joint Replacement

My 1977 Archer is in for its annual and the mechanic suggested replacing the pilot's yoke U-joint. He mentioned that McFarlane had stainless steel replacement joints that could be drilled by McFarlane using the original as a template. So we went down that route.

My mechanic hadn't heard anything from McFarlane in a couple of weeks, so he phoned them and found out that they never got the package with my U-joint. Apparently UPS has lost it in transit.

How big an issue is it to drill/fit the new U-joint now that that the original one is missing?
