I am the owner of a new to me 1974 Piper Cherokee PA-28-140.

On the floor and to either side of the flap handle near the button lock are two black knobs that can slide forward and backward a bit.

I cannot find any reference to these in the manual.

I'm not sure of their function and suspect they may be some type of control for an air vent???

Can anyone explain their purpose and what happens when the knobs are slid forward and backward. Again I'm guessing but suspect one position (which?) would be the open position and the other a closed.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
