Now that I have some glass and digital instruments in the Six I can see TAS without having to do a bunch of calculations. I have noticed on some flights that the TAS is lower than others and actually varies quite a bit at the same altitude. There have been many flights where I consistently get about 133 KTAS lean of peak at around 10.5k ft. And then flights like today where I see 137 KTAS and then a few minutes later down to 118 or so and having to seemingly pitch up to maintain altitude. The lower TAS remains for miles and miles sometimes. Is this just sinking air? It is not particularly bumpy or anything and sometimes totally smooth. MAP and RPM and FF stay consistent and there is no variation in engine sound or anything. Obviously higher weight will contribute to a lower TAS. But within a particular flight I'm wondering what causes the variation?
