I have a fuel injected 180 HP Lycomming. On a very hot day I landed and taxied to the pump and refueled. I used my usual method of re-starting the warm engine. No luck, just cough cough chug chug... Sounded like it didn't have enough fuel so I turned on the pump and advanced the mixture, but as I did the fuel flow gauge (actually pressure) instantly shot up past 12 gph. I cut it off immediately. I interpreted this as vapor lock.
I let it sit for a minute or two to let the starter cool. Then I tried the flooded engine technique, i.e. full throttle with mixture at cutoff. It eventually started but only after a long crank.
So my question is what is the best thing to do when you have vapor lock?
