I discovered what the pictures illustrate while giving the plane a cleaning. It's a 77 Turbo Arrow III with just under 3700 hours, never a flight school plane. It is entirely possible it has been there since I bought it eight months ago and I didn't notice it. The pictures make it seem far more obvious than it is.
I've heard these old Piper wing skins can fatigue crack like this sometimes, but I've never personally dealt with a crack before. Is this something that can just be repaired with a patch, or does it need an internal wing inspection to look at the spar and ribs? Is a patch like this within the scope of a regular A&P? If not, can anyone point me in the direction of a shop in FL or the southeast that can handle it? TIA.
