Nearly 2 weeks ago, my wife and I had to do a 1,000 fpm descent (after electrical failed) from 12,500 ft (over about 10 minutes) to get through a hole in the cloud layer so that we could land. A few days later my wife started having problems in her head, describing them as pressure in her sinuses, and feeling like one of her ears was partially plugged. (More like a reduction in hearing on that side, like holding her hand over her ear.) Doctors at Kaiser haven't found anything. (No surprise there.) But she even passed out once only 5 days after the descent.
Although we both doubt that the descent was the cause (more likely a mild sinus infection), it really has me wondering. She is not the most robust creature around. (That's putting it mildly.)
I'm considering taking her back up to 12,500 and then coming down over the course of an hour, just in case!
Any words of wisdom/similar experiences would be helpful.
