The primer in our Dakota seems to leak fuel when locked. My A&P cleaned it up and put in new O-rings but I could not kill the engine when pulling the mixture so he tested it and found it leaked fuel. He took a further look and said the pin & spring that supposedly shuts the fuel seems to be missing or not protruding so he said I would need to find a used one to replace the entire primer. I found a used one at preferred parts for $360 guaranteed to work which is better than the $750 new but my question is can the pin/needle/springs be replaced instead of the entire primer? He said overhaul kits for the primer consist of the O-rings and not the internal pins/springs so thought I'd check.
