I currently have a 79 Piper Archer II that I purchased almost a year ago. Wonderful plane but I would like to move up to a 6 place plane for use commercially for trips to the Bahamas and hopefully Cuba next year. I found 2 planes that I like very much. I would like to hear from other forum members their opinion on which seems like the better plane. I love the tapered wing on the 79 Archer, love the way it floats nicely on landings vs the older Cherokees with the Hershey bar wing. I see that the 79 Cherokee Six has the old Hershey bar wing type and that the tapered wing came out in 80 as the Saratoga. Here's the specs on each plane:
