We are quickly getting to the end of the happy journey.

As they were satisfied with the wiring and interconnects, all five panel pieces have now been screwed into place. Many of the switch and gauge openings are populated as well. However, notably the ASPEN, JPI 830, as well as the TC & STEC 40 & 60 PSS are not in place yet. Of course the (new) glare shield is not in yet.

Transponder and SL-30 radio pulled at the moment, and the empty co-pilot stack is without its gizmo mounted 796.

They lost a day chasing down an annoying buzz in the audio. They have traced it to a faulty repair of the wiring of the ceiling mounted speaker. The ground for the speaker is often lost in PA28s, and the speaker is then dead. Unfortunately whoever tried to repair it (before I owned the plane), tied the speaker ground to another wire in the bundle, which was not actually a direct ground. This sort of fixed the speaker, but has caused a variety of odd audio problems for me in the past. Without getting into details, this issue was now amplified by the use of new shielded, fully isolated cabling everywhere now. In any case, this was squashed.

Tomorrow morning rest of the panel will be buttoned up, and the hat rack and sideboards will go back in place.

After replacing the seal in the parking brake (it had a very slow leak), when they were going to bleed the brakes they noted the brake discs were 20 thou out of spec. Ka-ching, Ka-ching. Oh well.

Another day for the remaining minor tweaks here and there, and then paper work and a test flight. Good chance it will be done by Friday -- unless there is another snag ...
