Well, 14 working days, almost three weeks, it is one day before the original projected date of completion - ha! Never thought it would be done. Our working target is now PDOC+4, hopefully by next weekend.
Well, the "disarray" is looking a bit more tidy.
The original metal panel that held the six-pack instruments has been trimmed away. The new aluminum panel overlay will now hold these. You can see one larger white wire bundle, this goes to the ASPEN.
The two radio stacks are being readied on the work bench, you can see a host of connectors ready to latch on.
In the tail, on the right, is the new frame that will hold the WX500 lightning detector, it will feed both the ASPEN and the 430W, and the IFD540 when it is finally installed.
Beside it sits the electronics for one of the STECs.
BTW, the stabilator bolts are being replaced at the same time, as well as the trim drum and hardware, and the aft trim cable. Should be real nice and tight again.
New belly mounted COM antenna. It will be used with COM1, and intended for use in-air. COM2, for ground ops, will remain tied to a new top mounted antenna. All wiring is being replaced as well.
New marker antenna below, replacing the factory one. Note the bare aluminum forward of the mount, outlining the original factory location.
At the top, is the new stormscope antenna for the WX500, replacing the older WX-10A unit. There is white paint in the outline as it was not installed at the factory. The white is the original factory paint.
Both will be alodined and painted, I have the exact paint required.
Original annunciator lights -- much improved. An additional green lens/light has been added for P/H, and running it slightly dimmed when on.
Well, the cut to design and powder coated aluminum panels should be here on Friday. Despite all the work thus far, there is little seeming "visual" progress -- seeing the aluminum panels (not in mockup) will be something much more tangible.
Harness should be nearing completion tomorrow, and the avionics will begin to populate the panel.
Tidying up mid-next week, then testing and setup. Should be done for next weekend!
