I purchased a 66 PA 28-180 a few years ago, which has a P-1000 digital tachometer installed (pic added below). I have recently noticed that during a mag check, the tach indicates the expected drop in RPM when switching from Both to Left/Right but does not indicate the "negative" value of the drop. When I first purchased the aircraft, it always showed a negative reading during the mag check. The P-1000 manual states that during a mag check, "... the LCD should show a small RPM number, normally preceded by a minus sign (“-“) indicating that the engine slowed down". The engine does slow down as expected but does not show a negative reading as it has in the past. I have reset the tach per the manual and also attempted to contact Horizon Instruments, both without success.

Has anyone ever experienced a similar situation with this tach and maybe have a recommendations on a remedy?
