HI, I'm replacing the overhead console in my 79 Archer II which came with A/C. I'm wondering about the slots cut into the front of the runners which would seem to blow air onto the top portion of the windscreen. The console I ordered does not have these slots cut into it.
My question is: should I cut these slots into my new piece? Is this how the factory does it or has this piece been replaced in the past?

Thanks

The old piece is on the left, new on the right
