Greetings to all. I'm currently a V-tail owner but my mission is changing rapidly and I'm shopping for a true 6-seater now. After quite a bit of time lurking here and searching everywhere I have a few issues I can't seem to clear up without asking directly. I'm ruling out the A-36 due to cost and low UL so it's coming down to the PA-32 lineup.
What are the real world speed differences from Cherokee 6-300 to Lance to Saratoga? I'd take the fixed gear for simplicity, maintenance costs and higher UL but don't want to take a beating on the speed.
'Splain to me the fuel system changes from 1978 to 1979. I flew an earlier C-6 years ago and I get the 4 tank 4 position selector but don't get the 4 tank 2 position setup.
Turbocharging. In the Bonanza (Continental) world it's understood that the turbo will burn lots more fuel with a slight speed advantage under 10K feet and climb better and burn more fuel with a speed gain above that. What say you about the Lycoming turbos? Most of my flights will be in the plains (OK, TX, KS and occasionally CO or NM) so I don't need a turbo but if there's no downside it sure opens up the number of candidates.
Thanks in advance for any replies. Sorry for my ignorance.
