Food for thought; Do Not spend $200 on new leather interior, then let an A&P/IA 1000 miles away do your annual inspection.
I'm being hammered for stuff that I don't need, and one will result in an un-airworthy entry in the logs unless I can get it sussed short of Kelly doing an overhaul on the carb. The A&P/IA sez that the AD93-19-04 is not noted in the logs. I looked at the AD, and it's NA due to time frame. Granted, it needs to be noted in the logs as NA, but this guy wants to cause problems. No worries sez I. Just open it up, and make it right.
He sez that he can take it apart, but he cannot put it back together, and return to service. WHAT!!??
Are you an A&P or not? Have you read part 63? what does the P part of a&p allow you to do? is not a carburettor an "appliance" ? Good lord!! what has this world come to!? A mechanic refusing to perform work which he/she is specifically allowed to do per FAR.
Well pizz on it. I'll do it next weekend, and replace the throttle shaft bushings as well. Then I'll have him watch my every move, then bill him for the education.
This MA-4SPA is a simple carb, It ain't rocket surgery.
