I had the Warrior in for some avionics upgrades. I didn't go all the way to the WAAS GPS, it was more of a piecemeal improvement. I got a Garmin SL-30 Navcom, matched to a Mid-continent CDI with GS, then an electric Castleberry attitude gyro.

I was able to test fly yesterday, the radio & the new gyro are wonderful. I have to study up some on the radio to take advantage of all the features. I wanted the gyro to back up my vacuum gyro, it's actually better & in a pretty good location.

I flew 2 ILS approaches at different airports. The needles on the CDI are not smooth & steady, they 'drop-lock' intermittently while tracking final. It seems to be the signal inputs are not steady, antenna issue? At times I got off flags, other times just unsteady needles, both GS & Loc. I had a good 'ident' while these needles wavered. The course needle seemed somewhat better tracking a VOR. There is a feature where the SL-30 itself shows the radial you are on, this value seemed to drift even though you were tracking in hardly changing a radial.

I have an A.M. fishing trip with the boys then I may call Garmin for ideas before I talk to the shop. I also noticed the one side of the CDI seems like it could use another screw.
