On a newly purchased Piper Cherokee 140, we have an (we think) antenna mounted on the center frame support for the windshield above the hanging compass. It looks like a vor antenna and has a white cable which gives up through the overhead console. I thought I had a picture but don’t. I’ll get one tomorrow and post it.

The antenna itself has two ends which extend out at 45 degrees from a small metal box with no markings.

Any ideas about what this might be?
