Flew the other day, gear came up fine but wouldn't extend (electrically). Came down fine with the emergency extend. Tried to raise again and no response from gear handle.
Mechanic traced power past the relays to the power pack so diagnosis is dead motor. Good 51 year run I guess....
I ordered and have received an OHC from Aviall that is waiting to be installed.
The question I have, based on stories of OHC power packs not lasting long at all (months in one case) is that is it possible and would I be better off getting the motor overhauled and keep the original power pack versus an OHC one? I have never had the slightest issue until now.
The cost of this part is crazy and I want to minimize the chance of spending tons on something that doesn't last a reasonable amount of time.
