I've got a KN-62 DME that has some reoccurring display issues . The display has been cleaned before (tab contacts on the PCB as well as the display itself) and it seems to work for a while and eventually the issue comes back. The display is bright, but it then goes in kind of a scrambled appearance. The DME itself works great.

I've seen the PCB myself and it seems kind of, for lack of a better word, crusty. Perhaps some corrosion near the display connector traces. I know its been cleaned a number of times and I'm thinking perhaps some of the green coating has come off and we are dealing with a hyrodscopic issue.

What I am thinking of is suggesting is some touchup soldering of the driver chips and a through cleaning of the board. Then apply some con-formal coating to that area of the board.

Anyone have any thoughts here?
