My Comanche is hangared, with the used-to-be-standard engine heater on a timer. I'm looking to replace it with something I can control from my mobile device.

There's no useful wifi on the field, so I'm looking at something connecting through the cellular network. I see a bunch of references to GSM-connected devices for doing remote power control. However most of them appear to be for europe or asia, and they seem to go obsolete fast; the GSM-AUTO and SC1-GSM are NLA.

Would I be better off setting up a hotspot, and using one of the more available wifi devices?

What are y'all using when there's no wifi handy?
