I wanted to get to know my GPS better. (Can't use the app as it doesn't run on Win7) I was planning on sitting on the ground with the engine running so I didn't drain the battery, but an A/P told me that more than 15 mins at idle is bad for my engine. Is this true?

BTW: Plane in question is a 1998 PA28-181
