I've been all worried about my upcoming check ride because I have 2 Aspen panels with steam AH, altimeter and T&B. I was sure the inspector would shut down both Aspen panels for a partial panel approach. So worried, my CFI had me shoot a VOR approach on the whiskey compass, steam altimeter and T&B. I did pretty good. He took the controls, got me all disoriented and said...Find the airport and shoot the approach using the three instruments mentioned and the backup nav/com.

Found out today that for the partial panel, they will only shut down the PFD and since the MFD is certified backup, all I do it hit revert and go about my business. It's hardly a partial panel. All I lose is my map display on the MFD, but I have that on the Garmin and also on the HSI, which will be displayed on the MFD in revert mode.

Has anyone done a checkride in a glass cockpit? How did it work out?
