Installing Airtex seat cushions -securing hog rings?

I finally got my new Airtex seat covers / cushions for my 180. Plus new sling material. Hopefully will get it installed this weekend.

Airtex via a link supplied some detailed photos of the installation. One question I have is: How does one best attach the hog rings? Looks to me that the best option would be to align the fabric tabs to the sling, use an awl to make the holes, and then insert through he hog ring and close. sound about right? I did buy a good hog ring pliers. Just want to check. I haven't worked with hog rings since I installed them into actual hogs 40 years ago......
