Someone recently posted about wanting to know what was inside the Garmin 430 NavData cards. Something about being able to replace the inerds instead of having to shell out $200 for new when they crap out.

Well I opened a dead unit I have and here's what's in there:

A very tiny monkey with an even tinier map! :D

Or 4 AMD AM29F032B flash PROMs and a few decoupling caps on a double-sided cct bd. Pretty fine-pitched devices, so you'd have to be pretty skilled (and have the proper equipment) to try to replace them.
