I was on a flight from KLZU to KBWG at 6,000 ft. Nothing in the forecast at all about any type of icing sure enough about 35 minutes away from destination I couldn't see out the windshield that well I was IMC looked out on the wing and I had about a quarter inch of ice on it zoom pictures to see. I notified ATC and got an immediate descent down to 4,000 ft it still took 20 minutes for it to come off. All I could think about was staying off the Blancoliro channel and Dan Gryder. Anyone else have any experience with this? In hindsight I probably should have taken the autopilot off so I could feel what the aircraft was doing but I did leave it on.
