What are the benefits (and drawback) of having my airplane parked in a hangar. Should I own or rent the hangar? How about the cost of the hangar vs. reduced maintenance cost? Thanks in advance for your insight.
The environment: I live in Eastern Canada. Our weather compares to upstate NY so we get a lot of snow. It's cold in the winter. The "nice" flying season is too short.
My mission is to fly between cities for business and leisure with my wife, land, rent a car, stay around, then fly back or fly somewhere else. Add KOSH every 2 years. Finally, few local flights.
Money is not a factor here, it's all about convenience: I believe preparing the aircraft inside is much faster, convenient, easier for the owner maintenance. It protects the aircraft from the elements which is good maintenance wise in the long run.
I am at that point where I want to be a sole owner and make flying convenient - these are the main factors driving this change of mission. I own an Arrow in partnership. I will sell my share to buy myself a Cherokee. My wife is part of the plan and agrees with mission.
