I'm interested in recommendations for a handheld VHF transceiver.

How many people carry one as a backup?

I recently experienced an alternator/battery issue in my single comm trainer while on a solo XC. Got me thinking about having a backup radio.

I've only looked at the IC and Yaesu brands on some aviation store sites, but haven't found too many reviews or real-world use discussions.

Thanks for any info!

Kalin
