Trying to figure out why my GX55 does not couple to the autopilot on my 79 Archer with the Piper autopilot. The VOR, heading and wing leveler all seem to function as expected. When I switch the VOR-GPS switch to the GX55, it does not seem to do anything.

To check the wiring between the GX55 and the switch, I wanted to see which wires should go where. The GX55 has pin 4 as CDI +R and CDI -L which makes sense. The only similar signal on the KX170b is pin 3 which is designated "VOR/LOC composite out.

Are these two units compatible with my autopilot. I would have expected the KX170b to have similar CDI (course deviation) outputs to the GPS (and former Loran). I think I am missing something here. Help and thanks.
