As a ppl student and a new plane owner (68' 180d) I have been absorbing as much as I can during this process. One thing that blows my mind is the cost of avionics... Especially ifr GPS items.
On my Christmas wish list I have an iPad with foreflight. I'm also getting a new iPhone 6 (should be in today) so I'll have 2 devices that are able to run foreflight. At some point I'll add a stratus 2 to the package and have a really nice VFR location awareness/weather package.
When I'm browsing avionics I see in panel GPS where the screen size / resolutions that appear to be half that of an iPad and cost exponentially more to buy and keep up to date.
In a nutshell what is are the big differences? What can a garmin 430 do that a ipad/foreflight/stratus2 can't?
