Fumes in cockpit (AVGAS)?

I am noticing there is a noticeable fume of AVGAS in the cockpit (when opening the plane's door for the first time in a week or more). The primer has been checked, and the plane is undergoing annual now. I am going to ask the A&P to check the fuel selector valve. Is this normal, what is normal or acceptable smell of avgas? Is there any other culprit?
