Flying through rain

I've never flown through rain (we don't have such things in Nevada). How big a deal is it for the paint and engine at 140kts? I plan to fly from Fort Worth to Miami in the next week... looks like showers every day.

I do worry about embedded T-Storms.

Obviously I am IFR rated but have less than a minute of actual. I have a good autopilot as well.
