I was up today, finally, for my first flight of 2018 on a beautiful, mild -1c day. It was also my first chance to check my mechanical tach against the TruTach I got for Christmas.

The result was that my tach reads about 50rpm high when I'm looking down from my normal sitting position; however, when I put my head down at knee level and look straight at my tach, it's more or less correct around cruise settings.

I wonder how many people think they have bad tachs when it's really just a matter of parallax from a sharp angle?
