Hey all,
Short version of my story is I started flying 16 years ago. As is often the case, life happens and college, career, and family took priority. I restarted in July and am about midway through the process. 16 years ago I was in a 172, but that wasn’t an option this time around. Like the power in the 180, but at 6’6” 250ish I admit I miss the space of the Cessna.
The Cherokee is a blast to fly, and what you get for what you spend is also very appealing. Long term plan is to roll straight into my instrument once I’m done with my PPL and then start building toward that 250 mark, so I can look at comm/cfi. Looking at instructor as a part time/retirement gig. Have spent years as a trainer at work, and look forward to sharing my passion for flying with anyone who wants to give it a shot.
Slowly starting a search for a ‘73 or newer 180 with a mid time engine, under 5k TT, and somewhat newer avionics. GNS430W would be a huge perk. Use it for trips and time building, and then possibly instructing out of it down the road.
Anyway, that’s my short story. We’re near the ILS approach for 31 into KSLE in Salem, OR. I love it, my wife tolerates me. If you’re ever in the area, feel free to do a right 360 for spacing about 3 miles out and look me up.
