If you have a 430W, pay attention!
This deal is STILL available, but each month the price will ratchet up. I alluded to this in my avionics post, here is the info.
For an IFD440 WAAS GPS the release list price will be in the $15000 range. Given the superb feature set, and the limited life on the 430Ws, I think that most ANY 430W user would like to upgrade, but now with this special deal, it is almost a no-brainer:
1) Pay $8800 NOW
2) Wait for release, probably next fall
3) Get the unit shipped, it is a slide-out of the 430W and a slide-in of the IFD440 - done.
4) The 430W is yours to sell secondarily, or trade-in at the dealer. Typical 430W values are in the $7000 to $8000 range.
5) The dealer does get their usual margin from Avidyne, so they are not miffed, and say a one or two hour charge for software setup and log books.
6) If next year you do not want to exercise the right to buy when the IFD440 is released, or a year rolls by and no release, you can get a full refund.
