I have had a Dakota for 12 years and every 2 years the Attitude Indicator fails and needs an overhaul.
It is a King KI258 that drives a King Single Axis Autopilot.
It appears that the typical vibration of the Dakotas is causing this.
I have done Dynamic Balancing of the Prop and replaced the Engine Mounts to minimize vibration, but the issue continues.
Please share any ideas you might have to resolve this problem.
Do you know of other Attitude Indicators that are more resistant to vibration and can still drive the old King Single Axis Autopilot.
I have explored a conversion to ASPEN, but it is above my budget!
Thank you.
