Dakota O540 Dual Mag Electroair replacement

Has anyone upgraded their Dakota to the Dual Mag Electroair replacement? We are thinking of doing this upgrade at our next mag 500 hr inspection. Our mechanic thinks it is too expensive to be worthwhile, which quelled our enthusiasm a bit, as did the estimate for the upgrade... We would love to hear about what you think about the upgrade, how it has affected your startup, fuel consumption, flight at higher altitudes, etc. Thanks!
