1976 PA28-181: I am looking for input on the universal joint assembly (part no. 62834-02) under the instrument panel and attached to the forward end of the control yoke tube. Has anyone had an actual failure of this joint? How difficult is it to remove? How much free play at the pins can be tolerated? I see McFarlane has replacement and sells a tool to remove the tapered pin, also they offer a service to drill holes required to secure the joint assembly into the control system. Any input on this is appreciated!
