So I'm considering a Panel Upgrade. The options I talked about with my radio guy are the following. (not going to say who he is as I don't want to give away his prices)

1) refurbish the panel.

$3500. Don't add or remove anything. Just cut a new panel re-arrange and make it look all nice and new. (he does great work. I've seen first hand. It looks awesome!)

2) refurbish the panel + upgrade 430 to WAAS

$6300 = $3000 + $3300. He'll knock $500 off the refurbishment and upgrade the 430 for an additional $3300.

3) refurbish the panel + upgrade 430 to WAAS + install Aspen EFD 1000 Pro
$16300 = $2500 + $3300 + $10500.

He'll knock another $500 off the refurb cost and I get an Aspen Pro 1000 with all of the wonderful GPS steering, HSI, etc. etc.

What do y'all think?

How much of the investment would I get back in terms of value to the plane for the three options? My feeling is I would get almost all of option 1 back, a little less for 2, and less again for 3.

I'm trying to pitch this to my wife (safety, resale value, etc). Any ideas on how to do that are helpful also.

-G

PS: I'm not interested in trading in the 430 for an avidyne. so please no avidyne sales pitches.
