Hello All

As most of you know I currently fly a 68 Cherokee 180 D. I am thinking about stepping up to something a bit more powerful with retractable gear. My mission has changed some and we are planning more long distance trips.

Mr. FlyGuyDon, my ever so sage mechanic, thinks both planes are good, but thinks I should go for an arrow. He makes many good arguments:
  • Easy transition from my Cherokee
  • Parts are plentiful and readily available
  • He knows how to work on them them

I am also considering a Comanche. He has expressed concerns about this choice.
  • Parts less available
  • Seems more expensive in maintenance
  • He does not know them well as he does not work on them.
  • Seems to have lots of recurring expensive ADs

So we discussed these points and he suggested I post a discussion topic here and solicit some of your opinions on the options. I like both planes and I am somewhat attracted to the roomier Comanche. I don't know if width is really a good enough reason.

Are Comanches more expensive to run and maintain?

Is it harder to find parts for a Comanche?

Would an arrow be a better choice?

I look forward to reading your opinions and thoughts on the topic.

Regards
Russ
