I have a Cherokee PA-28/140 the struts keep going down. I have had two different mechanics work on them repacking and replacing the seals and the struts just went back down a few days after each time. Now one of the mechanicals is talking about ordering new valve cores and caps to try that. Not sure I want to go that route or if I should just be looking at re-chroming the struts or what my best option would be. Thanks!
ADDED: Just talked to the first mechanic that worked on the struts and he removed the chrome and replaced the seals and new valve cores and seals and replaced the O rings. First mechanic has said the next step would be to replace the O rings in the very top part of the gear in the inner part of the leg mount in the wing when we do the annual next month since it will have to be up for that. The struts are not damaged or corroded. He doesn't feel it needs to be re-chromed. Does that sound correct?
