My Dakota has a "cigar lighter" port that looks like it will take a standard car iPad charger. I don't know what circuit breaker it is hooked to as it is not clear, but I assume it is 5amps.

How can I tell if it is 12V?

Will it be safe to use a standard car charger with two USB ports that is rated at 24W/4.8, or would it be safer to use a single port 12W/2.4W?

This is for a yoke-mounted iPad Mini with the port facing the panel. I am thinking of running the USB cable under the yokes to avoid the throttle quadrant, but maybe a 6ft cable over the top of the glare shield would be better.

Thoughts?
