Cool announcement, that ASPEN (and FreeFlight) and Avidyne are embracing the Capstone data interface protocol on 429 & 232 interfaces, to allow easy interoperability for products like weather and traffic not only between a given manufacturer's devices, but also between different manufacturer's devices. So an ASPEN ARX100 box, will serve data not only to an ASPEN PFD, but also to an Avidyne IFD540.

This is in distinction to Garmin, that is at least currently hiding their data with a proprietary format, and "holding" it close to their chest. I suppose it is their data, they can do what they wish.

But, as someone that has jumped into the ASPEN camp, and awaiting an IFD540, this is all very interesting.
