Avidyne's 10.2 firmware update was just announced. There are a ton of new features and improvements.
There is also an intriguing brand new product announced that will ship at the same time, the IFD550. This is an IFD540, but includes a full ADHARS built in, so even without an ASPEN or G500, you would have a panel certified attitude data source, and a back up in case of a vacuum failure.
There is synthetic vision added at no cost to all IFD units. On the 550, this will additionally allow for an egocentric "out the window" view of terrain and traffic.
There is also FULL TAWS (certified option to follow), and digital radar weather display.
There is a tab which will accept a video input from a standard RS-170 format camera, supports full color and IR, pinch zoom able.
WiFi link is upgraded to two way communication to tablets for position, attitude and data serving and now flight plan input. Supported by Foreflight, FltPlan, FlyQ and others to be announced.
BT keyboard support is enhanced.
A IFD100 "app", that runs on an iPad, that fully synchronizes with your in aircraft running IFD unit. Whatever you do to the app based IFD, is carried out in the panel mounted instrument, and vice versa.
A bit of a techie feature -- allow multiple outputs of the same data stream - this really simplifies install configuration in some settings with regard to communication with other devices.
Capstone compliant ADS-B receiver support.
In addition ...
- Added support for GDL-88 – added ability to communicate with, and display data from, Garmin GDL-88 devices
