We have a Piper Autocontrol III with a 1C388 radio coupler.

Heading hold worked ok, not great, before install.

G5 set to Century 1C388 in the flight control option.

With the heading hold off, the wings stay level and the autopilot works fine with the center knob. Once the heading is engaged with the heading bug centered the plane almost immediately starts to bank left and right and after the second time we end up 30-40 degree banks left and right.

The wiring for the radio controller was done as noted for the 1C388 so that's why the century 1C388 is selected on the Garmin G5 Flight Control Menu.

Has anyone else had this problem and have you tried other flight control settings on the G5?

Also, the ground function test works well. heading bug left the wheel turns left and heading bug right the wheel turns right.
