I've recently installed an ARTEX 406mhz ELT 345 for a customer and I've interfaced it to the IFD/xxx RS232 serial output port #2 per the wiring diagrams for both the ELT and the IFD/xxx equipment. I've verified the wiring and during initial test of the ELT I receive 'invalid or missing NAV data' error codes on the ELT (5 beeps and 5 long flashes of the LED). Initially thought this was because we didn't have a good / clear GPS signal, but last night pulled the plane out of the hangar to take that out of the equation.
I've configured the IFDxxx for 'aviation' data, which I assume to be 9600 baud. The ARTEX documentation says its either Aviation protocol @ 9600 baud or its NMEA 0183 @4800 baud rate. Also, note in the Avidyne equipment compatibility tables tells me that they support the ARTEX model ME406, which is not the model 345...
What selection do I change in the configuration on the Avidyne to get NMEA 0183 baud rate data?
Or are these two units not compatible and I'm just wasting time trying to figure it out?
Thanks for the help.
