I have been looking at and playing with a few different aviation apps and would like some advice/ input from experienced users as to which app seems to be the best. My partner and I are lower time vfr pilots in a Cherokee 180. The bulk of our cross country trips will be 500 miles or less. Ultimately I guess I am wanting an all-in-one app that prob doesn't exist. GPS moving map navigation, weather info, flight planning, weight & balance for our plane, pilot log, etc. The apps I have narrowed down to are: Avare, iFlyGPS, FltPlan Mobile, Garmin Pilot & AOPA's FlyQ Pocket. As Garmin Pilot is not free is its cost justified in features & quality over the free apps?
Also does anyone know of a web based calendar for he n I scheduling the plane and tracking our use history that can also alert us to scheduled maint. such as oil changes. Currently using Tach & Hobbs but was curious if there is anything better.
