Some time ago I began to notice the ASI arm vibrating while in flight. It eventually got worse, to the point that the indicating arm was bouncing back & forth ten to twenty mph. The ASI was been sent out to be be overhauled & reinstalled. The report was, that there was a leak, & the calibration was off. Went flying the other day & still had the same issue.
I also had to replace the Pitot blade awhile back when the heating elements went south, with a rebuilt from a shop in Penn. The Pitot blade has been blown out to make sure there was no debris in the chamber & then reinstalled, & leak tested. The hoses seem to be soft & flexible with no apparent drying out due to age.
I don’t recall the time sequence regarding the Pitot blade replacement & when I first noticed the ASI problem. The shop in Penn. has offered to take back the Pitot blade & flow test it, hooked up to an ASI in their shop.
So, that’s where I’m at right now. Any other ideas? Anyone heard of something like this before?
