I just had the vacuum pump in my Archer fail this past weekend - day VMC so recovery wasn't difficult. After looking through the logbooks, the last entry that shows it being replaced was dated July of 1982. That would mean the pump is over 30 years old with 2800+ tach hours on it. I'm not too sure I believe that. At the last engine swap 225 hours ago (2/2002) the logs indicate that the existing pump was reinstalled with unknown hours. The date code on the pump appears to be either 12AC or 12AO. Is there anyone who could pull out their Capt. Midnight Magic Decoder Ring and convert this date code into something readable by mere mortals? Thanks.
